When looking at Japanese posters and billboards I found it interesting to see the balance between English and Japanese, which is pretty odd really. Over here in England, English is our native language, we don't just have bits in a foreign language, as if to appeal to a wider audience. But the widespread nature of English seems to still find it's way onto posters which have all the main information in Japanese.
This kind of balance is interesting and relevant for me when mocking up my billboards and other contextual material, maybe I could turn the tables and have all the important information in English and the lesser stuff in Japanese. To us, Japanese looks exotic and adds curiosity, to them English could do the same?
